I worked with Airbnb to create the neighborhood boundaries for New York City and 20 other cities across the United States. Extensive research, GIS analysis and precise line drawing went into capturing the definition of neighborhoods from a local's perspective.

The 3D rendering of buildings in Lower Manhattan show the years in which they were built from 1700 to the present. The gradations of dark orange to light orange correspond to the newest to the oldest buildings. The data used to create this map came from NYC Open Data.

SUNY Downstate Medical Center Artwork

With EwingCole Architects to create map artwork for SUNY Downstate Medical Center of some of the most beautiful places in New York City. Panels were 8 ft by 3 ft and landscape panels were also created. I was inspired by subway artwork mosaics and the exciting places of New York City as well as some of its peaceful refuges. The Gangs of New York: Who Rules Each Manhattan Zip Code

To determine who controls each of the borough’s nearly 50 ZIP codes, we combed the portfolios of Manhattan’s 20 largest owners and drafted a turf map of sorts. In cases where none of the 20 largest landlords owned office property, such as in the Lower East Side and parts of the West Village, no victor is listed.

Environs Map Series

The Environs Map Series is a living document of psycho-geographic maps. They are comprised of originalphotography, image compositing, and illustration collaged into an exact geography of a place. They are at once highly objective and subjective. The maps seek to capture the essence of the environment at the moment that the information and imagery are captured and created.

Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Chapel Hill, my hometown, is pastoral and vibrant. Nature mingles with optimism. The Duke Forest which sits beside my family's home plays a large part in this map.

Elegant 19th and early 20th century brick houses and of course, gardens for me embody what I love about this neighborhood.

Long Island City

I love seeing Long Island City from across the East River. The Pepsi and Long Island City signs are featured prominently although here I've replaced them with my sister and brother in law's names in lieu of their recent marriage.

South Williamsburg, Brooklyn

South Williamsburg was my first home in New York City and will always hold a special place in my heart. I love the grafitti (it's changed over the years), the Domino Sugar Factory, the Williamsburg Bridge and the interesting mix of cultures (Hasidic, Hispanic, Hipster?).

Green Institute in Soundview, Bronx

Formerly lead a mentorship class with 6th-12th graders in Soundview, Bronx, through the Green Institute. Created a custom Google mapping project of local businesses including suggestions for business improvement.

Google Earth/Maps Integration

Integrated our collected data through Google Maps and Google Earth, the final products of which was an interactive map presentation for city council members of Soundview, Bronx.
